# Stormward Sanctuaries

Stormward Sanctuaries are practical outposts maintained by followers of [Thor](https://eusia.sanctuarydnd.ca/books/worldbuilding/page/thor "Thor") to provide refuge, rescue, and relief in places where storms and the natural world pose a constant danger. Found along mountain passes, remote roads, coastlines, wilderness trails, and other hazardous routes, they serve as waystations for travelers and safe havens during severe weather.

Unlike the [Open Halls of Thunder](https://eusia.sanctuarydnd.ca/books/worldbuilding/page/open-halls-of-thunder "Open Halls of Thunder"), Stormward Sanctuaries are not centers of worship or learning. Most consist of little more than a refuge hall, stables or kennels, basic stores of food and supplies, and a small shrine open to the sky. Their keepers spend far more time monitoring weather, guiding travelers, organizing search parties, and aiding disaster victims than performing religious ceremonies.

The sanctuaries embody a core Thorist belief: those who benefit from the power of storms bear a responsibility to help those harmed by them.As public suspicion of storm magic has grown throughout Eusia, the Stormward Sanctuaries have become both a symbol of the faith's commitment to service and a reminder that courage is measured not only in battle, but in helping others weather life's storms.
